![]() ![]() The entree - the beef wellington was perfect! It was tender, great seasoning, and the dough was thin packed with păté and duxelles flavors. The lobster consommé was good too but felt like we could've had more pieces of lobster in it. The appetizers - the ravioli was very good! I could taste the different cheese in each bite and could go for another. Upscale business casual recommended, but I did see a few people in sneakers and a hat. I got lucky and found parking half a block away on the same street as Selby's. You cannot park in the neighborhood behind Selby's because the homeowners are protected by street rules. Valet is complimentary, but if you do not want to do that, street parking is available but difficult. ![]() My gf took me for my birthday and I couldn't have had a greater time. ![]() Selby's sold me from the moment i stepped in! I highly recommend for a special occasion dinner. Parking is hard to come by but there is a valet. It was nice to experience the dining room, but next time I'll try the bar area and bar menu as it seems to be more cost effective and doesn't require you to select from the three-course menu. One for the three-course dining, and the other for the bar section where there is another bar menu. The restaurant is divided into two sections. The Wagyu tomahawk beef was at an additional pricey cost but worth it. At the time of this posting the per person price is $98 for the three-course dinner. The main course was a Wagyu tomahawk steak that came with potatoes and vegetables, and it was very good. My favorite appetizer was the tuna tartare. The menu is a three-course meal and you have the option to upgrade for an additional cost. Service is top tier, friendly, and attentive. And during dessert the birthday recipient received a cake with the best sprinkles I've ever had. We were celebrating a birthday, and the table came with a card with a birthday greeting from the staff. We had dinner reservations on a weeknight, and it was easy to make, and it was not crowded when we arrived for dinner at 6:30 PM.Įverything about our dinner screamed it was a Michelin-star-level meal. That was a first!Įxcellent food, service, and ambience. One of the wait help brought out two portable irons to get rid of the wrinkles on the top layer. Probably one of the most interesting sights was watching the staff prep another table for new guests. Several layers with that decadent mousse topping. My only disappointment was there just wasn't enough meat served. The chips to scoop the tartare were not fresh or crunchy. When the check is presented, a piece of house-made chocolate accompanied it. The vegetables in it were so crisp and crunchy. After that came a bowl of decadent Gaszpacho. First up was an oyster from Newfoundland before my tartare arrived. Selby's is one of those places where they bring out surprises all night. The Dukes' was cold and potent, but I'd also say it was way too small! Thankfully, they do have blue cheese olives! I order the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare which has been on the menu since it opened, the Maine Lobster Vol-Au-Vent and I finished with the Glazed Blueberry Tart.Īs a fan of Martinis, the drink menu said Selby's has the coldest Martini's on the West Coast. I came here tonight as I was in town for business and had read how Modern Luxury Magazine recognized it as the best fine dining restaurant in the South Bay. The restaurant opened in 2019 and its ownership includes Spruce in San Francisco. You start with a three-course meal and depending on choices, may have supplemental charges, like for the lobster and steaks. Plush, elegant, high ceilings, great music. It resembled something from the days of big supper clubs. Unless you're Uber rich, in that case, you might have dinner here every night.īeautiful dining room. Selby's is one of those places you celebrate special occasions. Overall everything is good, definitely a solid 4 star. chocolate cake: very thick, chocolatey, we couldn't finish it vanilla pannacota: yummy! Good dessert to end the meal beef wellington($25 supplement i think, i forgot): good, same sides as the ribeye, i wish there are more varieties Comes with potato, spinach and frise salad. ribeye($30 supplement): good, i ordered medium but it's cooked more medium rare. tuna tartare($5 supplement): the chips that come with this is soooo good! The tuna tartare itself is also good. While it is good, you can barely taste truffle and it is definitely not worth the price added. australian perigord truffle($48 supplement): i would pass on this. The menu is a 3 course meal, with some supplements added depending on what you selected. There's not many good fine dining place outside of SF towards the south bay, so I am excited to try Selby's! With kids it's not easy to find a restaurant that takes a later reservation, but Selby's takes reservation until 9pm! *yay* Valet is complimentary, which is another plus. ![]()
